We all live a busy life and are often stretched by meeting the needs of others, meeting deadlines and ultimately spreading ourselves to thin.

Running on empty can certainly catch up with you creating overwhelm, anxiety, and eventually health issues.

Today I share my insights on how to recharge, refresh and refuel

Life is busy, however if we create a habit of taking some time to relax and do something we enjoy, we soon experience a sense of self once again.

I am often heard saying “Fuel your own tank, first”.

I say this for good reason, you cannot support others if your fuel tank is empty.

Self care or re-fuelling does not have to cumbersome. Th individual does need to accept the responsibility for putting things in place and for the actions it takes to refuel.

Decide today to put a few things in place and commit to your needs, ultimately making you a priority and you to will quickly see and feel better in no time.

Some things to support you during relaxing activities, is aromatherapy, music, taking a warm bath and identifying a place for you to refuel your tank.

I share with you some of the activities that I use to relax and recharge.

1. Exercise - take a relaxing walk outside, noticing the changes in our environment as the seasons change. on my walks I am currently noticing the changes n the colour of the leaves and the way it brightens our landscapes.

2. Massage - enjoy a relaxing aroma therapy massage or a hot stone massage. You can often buy these experiences in a package. I find this is always a great gift idea to, make sue you share with your family and friends how much you enjoy a massage.

3. Journalling - Recording your thoughts, acknowledging your accomplishments and letting go of any frustrations with the power of the pen is both therapeutic and health for the mind, body and soul. Remember there is a connection between the heart and the pen.

4. Nutrition - Be courageous and embrace your choice of nourishing foods and drinks to energies your body. Your body is your vehicle that allows you to experience life and movement to your greatest potential. Now is a great time to gain awareness of the importance of hydration for our mind, body and soul. Our bodies are made up primarily of water and this needs to sustained fr us to be our best.

5. Holidays - Have a holiday or mini break away to look forward to. Plan and head off to the beach, or up into the mountains. Maybe go back to nature and go camping. This break should include the opportunity for you to rest, recharge and maybe even reconnect with yourself, your partner, family or friends.

6. Technology - Yes we all have technology and yes it is a part of our life. We however can control how much it impacts our lives. We all need some down time. I encourage you to close screens, recharge your devices in a separate room to where you sleep and to put them down at least 60 minutes before retiring for the evening.

7. Mindset - This is your choice. We choose from moment to moment how we think, feel and experience our life. Be aware of your state of mind….protect your health, embrace gratitude, and surround yourself with things and people that move you towards your vision of life.

Why are these things important. If you are not paying attention to your energy or stress levels they will catch up with you and create burn out. When we experience a level of burnout for extended periods of time we create ongoing health challenges.

Make it a habit to check in with yourself to see how your body feels, what your state of mind is and identify what you are focusing on. Adjust as you will and be compassionate as you give yourself permission to relax, to refresh and recharge.

Life is a gift and it is our responsibility to create the experience we have of the journey.
