Why do I need to look back to move forward?

Have you experienced hurt, anger, disappointment, frustration, loss in the past?
We all experience some sort of pain and or suffering at times.


Our journey of life is not guaranteed to be a bed of roses, we all experience painful times. Many people cope with negative feelings just fine and move one. But there are also people who do not cope in a positive manner.

How do you cope in the face of pain and suffering?

Many of us try to ignore the pain stuffing it down inside, this causes our subconscious mind to lock down and our heart to become heavy. In the moment you may not even realise this is happening.

The past pain and suffering can be healed and you can lead a vital, happy, peaceful future.

The first thing you must do is become aware that you have repressed or stuffed down pain over the years. You may’ve been bullied at school, perhaps you have experienced attacks on your self worth or maybe you have never accomplished what you set out to due to fear and self doubt.

The way to begin to heal is to give yourself permission to take some time and think about your past. It may take a day, a week, or as much time as it takes, however this is where it all starts.

Ask yourself the following questions to get things started -
Are there things that happened a long time ago and I still feel the pain or anger because of it?
Do I feel like I have been victimised, criticised, abused or neglected?

The depth of this inner healing work is to consciously go within and explore the pain you may have, ignored, rejected, push down deep inside and bring it to your conscious awareness so you can start to heal it.

After creating some space between the pain and today, you can consciously look at it differently and maybe gain an insight into what really happened. remembering nothing has meaning apart from the meaning we give it.

It is critical to face our emotions head on when it comes to healing them and freeing yourself so you can go forward and experience a happy, peaceful future.

I will say that not everyone can do this type of healing on their own. Make sure you have a safe space and if you need support, the right support for you. This is a decision that only you can make.

It’s not always easy to reach out and ask for help, so please ensure that you engage somebody who has the resources, and can help you explore and heal the wounds.

Please know almost everybody needs help from an expert during their life journey. There is no shame in asking for support.
